For a good part of the year both daily walks happen in the dark, and a dark dog on a dark verge is invisible until it is very close. Retro-reflective webbing throws headlight beams straight back at the driver, which is the single cheapest safety change an owner can make.

Reflective stitching is woven into the strap rather than printed on it, so it survives washing and abrasion. On the LED versions the light band is a sealed silicone tube on a USB-rechargeable cell, with steady and flashing modes and enough runtime for a week of ordinary walks.

Both can still carry embroidered ID, which is the point: high visibility should not mean giving up the name and number. We usually recommend reflective as standard on every collar and LED as the winter addition.

Reflective or LED?

Reflective works whenever there is a light source pointed at the dog, which on a road is exactly when it matters, and it never needs charging. LED makes the dog visible with no headlights at all, which is what you want on an unlit field. Most people end up with both.

Does the reflective wash out?

Not on ours — the reflective element is a yarn woven into the webbing rather than a printed film, so there is no coating to crack or peel off in a machine wash.
