Collars are sold on colour and pattern. They fail at the buckle, the D-ring and the stitching, and none of those three appear in the photograph anybody buys from.
So that is what we quote first: which buckle is fitted and what it is rated for, whether the D-ring is welded or a bent strip with a gap in it, and how the webbing is bar-tacked where the load actually goes.
The second thing we do differently is treat a name as data rather than a surcharge. A different name and number on every collar in an order costs nothing extra here, because a shelter with sixty dogs should not be choosing between identification and budget.
Why we exist
A rescue asked us to replace a batch of collars whose D-rings had opened under load. They were not cheap collars. They were collars where the ring was a folded strip of plated steel with a visible gap, which is invisible in a product photo and obvious the moment it fails.
We weld our rings, we state the buckle rating on the quote, and we will tell a customer when the cheaper option is genuinely fine for their dogs. None of that is expensive; it is just not what a race to the lowest price produces.
What we actually make
Embroidered nylon collars with the name and number stitched into the webbing rather than hung off it. Full-grain leather collars with a riveted brass or stainless plate. Quick-release collars in acetal or aluminium, dye-sublimated end to end so artwork wraps the whole strap. Martingale and limited-slip collars built to a measured neck and labelled with their closed size. Retro-reflective webbing and rechargeable LED bands for the half of the year when both walks happen in the dark. And matched collar and lead sets cut from one webbing run, so they actually match.
Variable data is standard on all of them — one spreadsheet, one collar per row.

We ask for a measured neck rather than a size chart, and for martingales we ask for the head measurement too, because the closed size has to fall between the two. It is a two-minute conversation that prevents both the collar that slips off and the one that never gets worn.
